I have been working in the IT industry for over five years now and confidence comes mainly from the experiences we gather throughout our life.
About Me
I started my education at Vera school located a hundred kilometers from Addis Ababa Ethiopia. I continued my education at Vera school until I reached the fourth grade. After my family moved to the capital of the country I joined Assai public school. In Assai public school I was forced to take the fourth-grade courses again because of the fact that at Vera school the education was more inclined to the foreign education system. I spent 9 years in Assai public school until I graduated high school and got my high school diploma.
After graduating from high school, I joined Haramaya university. At Haramaya university I studied Software engineering for 4 years and graduated with a B.Sc. degree. During my stay, I have participated in various class projects and social activities. During our third-year summer internship opportunity, I joined a company that was engaged in the business of retailing and maintaining apple products. After returning for the final year of campus, I had the chance to get CCNA certified from cisco through the university and got 4 certificates on Accessing the WAN, CCNA Exploration: LAN Switching and Wireless, IT Essential: PC Hardware and Software, and CCNA Exploration: Network Fundamentals. My stay on campus, as well as the internship, helped me in understanding the different fields that I could take to pursue a carrier in tech.
Following my departure from the campus, I was able to get a job at a company called Hagbes plc with the degree I acquired from Haramaya University. As an Apprentice IT technician, I worked on networking, server management, and end-user support. In the same year of acquiring the job, I was also fortunate enough to be accepted for an opportunity for an M.Sc. degree at HiLCoE School of Computer Science and Technology
While working at Hagbes plc., I received my M.Sc. degree in software engineering from HiLCoE School of Computer Science and Technology. Because of my academic achievements, I was promoted to a Systems Support position in the same company. As a system support officer, I had a duty of supporting the organization’s users with various SME software (ERP systems, SPSS, peachtree accounting…) and generic productivity software (MS-office, Grammarly). I also facilitated as well as participated in requirement gathering, evaluation, design, and implementation of an ERP system that was under deployment at the time. I was involved in the project for more than two and a half years starting from the initiation phase.My participation in the deployment of Agresso UNIT4 (ERP System) helped me to understand and realize IT project management practices and flaws. It was a privilege and a knowledgeable encounter to be able to understand and break down the architectures of an enterprise standard international ERP system. I have also gained experience in report writing for various positioned officials as well as my educational background. I have also developed a department organization document and various other standardization documents.
After graduating from HiLCoE School of Computer Science and Technology, I had a business idea that has been developing until I decided to propose the idea to the owners of the company. They accepted the proposal for the business idea therefore, I am currently working in a sister company of Hagbes plc. called BESTAV Technologies plc as a general manager. I also managed to finish an “Introduction to cybersecurity” and earned a certificate of completion from cisco. I am keeping up with the tech-development world and the self-improvement path I am taking will continue vigorously.
